Rowan (I think) Problem
Hi,
Where our W.I meet there is a tree out the back that we believe to be a Rowan. We have noticed over the last couple of weeks that many of the leaves are dropping. There are areas on the tree where it looks really healthy but other parts look like they are dying off - turning yellowish & dropping.
On examination today many of the leaves (both green & yellow ones) have holes in them like caterpillars have been feeding. Just a bit worried that there may be a problem with our lovely tree & would appreciate any thoughts.
This is a photo of some of the leaves.

If it's being eaten it won't all be eaten and will come back next year or maybe later this year. Native trees have native wildlife that eat bits of them, it's all part of the biodiversity. It doesn't kill them.
Hard to tell from the photo but doesn't look like a rowan.
If you think too many leaves are yellowing and dying off have a look at the trunk. Has the bark been damaged?
