International Kidney new pots

Can anyone tell me what these white wart like things are please? I use four raised beds, so nothing goes in the same situation for less than four years. We throw all potato, tomato, rose cuttings and all unhealthy leaves like rust or black spot. We are purely organic and make all our own compost.

This year I decided not to bother with mid season potatoes as we didn't really have enough room, so there is just the one row of International kidney potatoes and two potato bags. I haven't checked the bags yet. I haven't seen anything like this before. Also they take ages to cook, unlike last years crop which were delicious. Should I peel them or throw them.

Thanks

Just scrape the potatoes as normal, they'll be fine to eat - don't compost the scrapings.

  • Agreed, but I just scrub off the scab,(some say soil needs to be acidic to avoid, but some types more prone so check out before buying,) and steam and enjoy.

If potatoes are large I have found slicing them in half and placing them in the steamer cut side down cooks them much better and they are easy to check whether cooked to your liking.
