Sad looking aubretia

My new house has a large rockery covered in aubretia.It was stunning when in flower but now looks dreadful. It is at the front of the house and makes me sigh whenever I come home. I can't bear looking at it for the rest of the Summer. Help!

Thanks, sounds a bit drastic-such a large area. Any suggestions what I could plant there in the meantime?

Honestly - as Will says, shear it right back, give it a watering and a bit of a feed. It'll soon green up and look a bit more respectable.

I tried aubretia several times without much success, last year I left some in pots in the ground and they survived the winter, those left in the ground failed, the border faces east and is raised, what am I doing wrong?
