Pots full of weeds and roots

I'm potting up some new plants and I have some pots which are full of weeds and roots. If I pull the weeds out can I re-use the compost, since there will be lots of roots left over?

I wouldn't, but you can. It'll need a slow release fertilizer added to it.

I wouldn't either most likely weed seeds in compost best to use fresh compost and slow release fertilizer

If I was potting on new plants, I would use new compost but I wouldn't feed until about six weeks, they need to establish roots in their own time, not to be raced on.

Just my opinion though, I know most people like to feed and feed.

Some of the pots weren't too bad so i pulled the top layer off and replaced it with a fresh layer so I'm hoping the weeds won't grow back and everything will be fine.
