Very worried novice is this a weed

 Hi everyone I have a pile of topsoil and this year we let the plants grow rather than weed killer it as we have for the last two years  as I wanted To sort our garden out, originally we got the top soil to sort the ground out around our pond as it was so uneven most of the plants have been good but yesterday one I put on was bad news marestail everyone told me. Is  this one a plant? Can anyone tell me please I put it in a pot but again I have it growing all over should I keep it or not any help,advice or anything would be really appreciated thank you in advance

    Its definitely a plant. Not sure what it is though. Not a weed I recognise.

    However if you didnt plant it, its a weed.

    it does look like bay... it shuld have a nice aromatic smell  if you rub it... if it is, it's a lovely shrub, don't kill it....

    Thank you everyone, yes it smells good when I rub the leaves, so now I will dig up the rest and plant them in my front garden image
