'teabag' bedding plants

B3B3 Posts: 27,473

Have lost several plants grown in those pouches that look like big tea bags. I think they restrict root growth in some cases. Has anyone else had this trouble or have I just been unlucky?

In London. Keen but lazy.

  • Have lost several plants with these "bags". Now if I buy something and find it's been grown in a "bag" I immediately repot it. No trouble since so it must be something to do with the "bag".

some seem ok but lost lobelia ,diascia and the odd petunia .  Geraniums ok but slow to develop. Perhaps it is because they can survive on less water. will remove bags but will try to avoid buying them in the future. B&Q seems to be main culprit. independents seem to use traditional method

I have also lost loads of plants in the past, now I just remove the 'teabag' and give the plants a good drink before planting them out......so far, so good!

Planted two baskets up. I kept the 'teabags' on in one and took the off in the other. The basket without them is so much healthier and fuller than the one without.  B&Q do seem to be the main culprits.

Oops. Should really take off predictive txt. Should read 'the basket without them is so much healthier and fuller than the one with them. image
