What's your worst nemesis, your most dreaded weed or plant?
What's the worst weed you have in your garden, or have had in the past?
Did you manage to get rid of it, and how?
I'm new to gardening, but for now my nemesis is bamboo. I also have a garden thick with ground elder, bindweed and ivy, so I may change my mind when I come to trying to eradicate those. But for sheer destructiveness bamboo gets my vote.

Horsetails on my allotment, though I reckon anyone with Japanese knotweed deserves all our sympathy.
I do not expect to get rid of the horsetails and have come to appreciate their beauty when covered in dew first thing in the morning. I still hate the stuff though.
The worst thing we have is Japanese Anemones (what is it with Japanese plants??) It's beautiful but had taken over the front garden completely, and had to go. It's not going without a fight though, and still peeping up from under the slabs.
In the back garden, it's well behaved and actually very useful as it grows in bone dry deep shade under a conifer.
My worst nightmare would be horsetail. You can deal with pretty much anything else, but horsetail seems to be virtually indestructible.
I rented a property for a few months and the back 'garden' was infested from top to toe with horsetail
At my last house we had a couple of ponds and the big one (around 60 x 40 feet) had it growing through it. Impossible to get out. I just had to keep pulling it from the surrounding areas as much as possible.
I have none here thankfully
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I have a mystery weed growing in my flowerbeds that I think might be horsetail now (having just googled the pictures). It's slightly more bobbly though so I hope not.
I'll take a photo tonight to check.
Bindweed at one allotment
couch grass on both
random potatoes that the previous incumbent didn't remove, and despite vigorous digging, appears that we missed
giant hogweed on the path across the top of the plot leading to the water tank.
I hate ivy hiding behind shrubs and invading.
My next door neighbour's ground cover plants!
Horsetail, brambles and rampaging buttercups take up most of my time

ice - I had to Google Green alkanet. Yes, I have that too. Was wondering what it was.
I could open a show garden for weed-lovers.
