Identifying this shrub

Hello, I have this shrub planted into the ground in the middle of my patio.  It doesn't look too healthy and I don't know how to treat it as I don't know what it is.  Some leaves are variegated, some green and some red, it flowers and has red berries.

Can anyone help please?? Thanks

Nandina domestica, possibly. They often don't look too healthy.

Nandina, little white flowers then berries. The older leaves always look red compared to the newer ones.

  • Nandina domestica for sure, a woodland plant. Nandina firepower in my opinion is a better specimen .

You could cut out all the tallest stems at the base.  This would leave more light and air for the shorter ones and stimulate fresh new stems and foliage.  Give it a good drink of liquid seaweed or tomato fertiliser and a handful of slow release feed such as blood fish and bone or pelleted chicken manure.

    That should perk it up.

  • Thanks to everyone - great help.  Now I am spending more time at home and getting involved in the garden I'll be back for more help.

  • Definitely Nandina domestica, commonly known as heavenly bamboo! Nice plant with good all year interest
