Underplanting
Hi
I have a very long bed full of rhodies and azaleas and I want to underplant them with something that will provide mat-forming ground cover hopefully to control the weeds and I really love Creeping Jenny - does anyone have any experience of these plants together? Thanks!

It's quite difficult to grow anything under either of them as they tend to out compete anything planted underneath them and the conditions don't lend themselves to any plant. In all the gardens I work in, I rarely see anything as ground cover under rhododendrons in particular. Grass will grow under azalea's and can look if trimmed very nice. IMHO grass under the azalea's is your best bet, but you'll struggle to find anything to grow under the rhodies.
Appreciate the input, thanks - any ideas instead on weed control in a bed that's 15m by 3m??
Bark mulch?
