What is this plant?

What is this plant that has come up for the second year running amongst the long grass at the bottom of my garden.

To me it looks like its from a bulb.

Thanks

I think its a native orchid, possibly the pyramid orchid, but a close up of the flower head in focus would help.

  • Agreed , can't see if the leaves have spots or not. If spots a spotted orchid.

  • Absolutely let them grow naturally where they choose

  • Thanks for the replies.

Close ups of flower head and leaves.

I was thinking of moving it as it's in my lawn and probably only been there the last two years and the lawn hasn't been cut until the summer months but not so sure after the replies.

    Is it worth moving it?

    Thanks

It's likely to die if you move it.  Orchids grow in symbiosis with other organisms in the soil - they may well not exisit in the spot you move it to.

You're obviously doing something it likes so well done image

You may like to inform your local Wildlife Trust of its appearance - they like to keep a record of these things http://www.wildlifetrusts.org/your-local-trust

We used to have them when we came here but not seen one for years now.
