Memorial Rose

In march this year, we had to sadly put my beloved labrador Alfie to sleep, after it was discovered his very sudden lethargy was due to a ruptured tumour of his spleen, all happened so very quickly (2 days from perfect heath to very ill).

We've had his ashes back to us now, and Ive spent time looking for a suitable plant to mark his grave with.  Ive found a David Austin rose named Strawberry Hill.  We holidayed twice a year in Pembrokeshire with Alf at a Barn cottage, and Strawberry Hill was the killer hill we had to walk up from the beach every day, He loved it of course as lots of dogs had "signed the guest book" along the way, ensuring a good study for him on the way home!

What I would like to have is some good advice on planting this Rose. Its going to go in the center of our Dapple shaded lawn (thanks to huge cherry tree on the green outside.)   My other roses grow well but they were garden center rescues that I just stuck in the ground and have basically looked after themselves.

I don't want to take the risk with this one, as we will be putting his ashes near the rose,  it was his favorite part of the garden, because he could have a real good nose of who was passing and see if it was worth getting up from a snooze (did they have treats, were they good ticklers?)

Any advice for taking care of this and giving it a good planting, ie, best time of year, fertiliser, depth etc etc.

Many thanks
