Bird trouble
We have recently spent a small fortune re-lining our hanging baskets and window troughs, only to find that the little birds are tearing lumps out of them. Any advice on how to keep them away from the baskets without harm coming to them ?

They want the material for nesting, only solution I know of is to provide them with an easier source of something similar and maybe they will leave the baskets alone. Used to happen to me with coir too and I this year I have used a gardman sheet material (which tho fibrous is a little different and the name escapes me totally!) and so far they have left it alone.
Thanks Steve, got to be worth a try
There are hanging thingies like bird feeders that you can stuff material into, depends which looks easier to nick it from I guess!
