Flower or Weed?

When we first moved in last year the garden need a lot of work and I dug up a lot and replanted what I wanted.  This year a few things have started to resurface and I decided to leave them to see what they turned out like.  New to gardening I don't know if these are flowers or weeds and wonder if anyone can help please?

The yellow ones are covered in aphids and I'm undecided if that's a good or bad thing? ....would they spread or help to attract more wildlife that like to eat aphids?

Pic 1 - yellow flowers look like Geum urbanum: I class this as a weed and pull it out before it seeds all over. Not to be confused with the nice Geum plants you can buy from the Garden Centre!

Pic 2 - purple foxglove. I keep a few of these towards the back of borders. These self seed all over the place, but are easy to deal with by moving elsewhere or pulling out. Up to you if it's a weed or not!

Pic 3 - astilbe. this is a plant not a weed.

I'd use some kind of a soap based spray on the plants with aphids on, until the ladybird population gets going as they do spread!

Agree with nut and would suggest getting rid of the wood avens - it's still a menace in my garden and I've been removing it whenever I see it for donkey's years!  The seeds have a nasty habit of enbedding themselves in clothes and pet fur, too.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Thanks.

I sprayed it tonight with a soap solution but will remove it all tomorrow.

I have some at the back corner of the garden but it's on the outside next to the road and amongst the pine tree and conifer etc so impossible to get at. On the plus side - it can't really get into the main part of the garden image

Keep an eye on the foxglove as paulk2 says or it could become a nuisance.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
