Does anyone know if this is a plant or weed please, I found it in my pile of topsoil I'm moving any help and advice about would be great, thank you in advance
Nikki, all weeds are plants but not all plants are weeds. For some plants, it depends if you want it where it is or not to determine if it is a weed. I happen to love Herb Robert. It sort of climbs up half my fence in the back when nothing else is growing yet. But I do clear it out when it gets too much and when other plants get going. I'm sorry it caused a rash. It's never done that to me. You must have sensitive skin! Looks like long sleeves in the garden for you.
I love herb robert too. It can look very handsome if well grown in a border and makes a good plant for my drystone wall along the edge of the rockery. But it does seed like mad - I even found seedlings growing in the rubber seals on my car windows, parked nearby. You can tell I'm not great at washing it!
I nearly always have long sleeves when gardening - you never know when there might be a sneaky nettle hiding underneath as you reach in to pull something else!

Looks like Geranium robertianum, Herb Robert, weed but pretty.
In the sticks near Peterborough
It does look pretty, but although I wore gloves my forearms have all come up in a rash
