How to stop my lawn being a total waste of time and energy?
I just spent a month visiting friends in America, and one of them was running an urban farm. During all the discussions, I realised that I am a gardener, that I spend two hours a week gardening... and its all standing behind a mower.
So I'm planning on putting in some raised beds, and getting going on the vegetable growing, but first... I wondered if anyone had some advise on how to slow down my lawn.
Thinking of absolutely bombing it with clover. Anyone have any advice on which type, and whether or not I'll regret this?

Sorry bigonroad, you won't slow down a lawn, all you can do is reduce the size of it.
Ah well, still might be worth it, even if it doesn't slow things down. Will it crowd out other broad leafed plants?
I always think that a good lawn makes a garden and potentially sets the garden off! I have seen many people try and dispose of their lawn with so called laboursaving ideas, which often amount to a lot more work and are really unattractive in a garden. My question is do you have a decent lawnmower that cuts your lawn efficiently or have you thought about a robotic mower that cuts your lawn automatically? Or maybe you can just simplify your lawn, making it easier to cut? Anyway a few thoughts for you.
