Chilli!

Good evening all

As a newbie to growing and gardening I have a quick question if I may... I have been kindly given an established chilli plant. I have picked the most ripe fruits, leaving about 8-10 green chillis of various sizes (as per advice from various gardening websites!). There are no flowers at all on the plant.

My question is, and pardon if this sounds naive: Will more fruit grow in place of the picked chillis? Or will the plant need to grow flowers again in order to produce the fruit? I am worried that if I pick all of the fruit there will be nothing left but a bare plant!

Thanks in advance

Lee

    Welcome Lee22

You will have to pick the rest of the chillies then the plant will grow more flowers, the plant thinks it's finished reproducing because the fruit still on the plant but you might want to ripen them first then the plant will grow more flowers.

    Welcome Lee.

There have been many "threads" on chillies . You need to set a lot of time aside if you want to read them all. but pick away, they'll keep producing more flowers and fruit.

Basic hint, let them dry out to the point of wilting before watering them as this encourages more flowers.

There are special chilli feeds, but regular tomato feed will do fine.
