what is going on??

 Hello. I've never seen these plants grow a long shoot before, looks like it might even flower at the end.  Is this normal?

    Thanks chrissy, I've had them for a few years, but this is the first one to sprout a trunk!

    Yep, totes normal. At a certain point they go all phallic (sorry) and bloom, and then they die (sorry). But usually they make side shoots before dying so you don't utterly lose them. Take it as a swan song. They go out in silent glory. image

    Ah, there have been dozens and dozens of side shoots over the last couple of months, so I'm glad I've been repotting them all.  It will live on!! Can't wait to see the flowers image thanks katherine
