Netting on small plants from nurseries
in Talkback
Why do some nurseries persist in supplying plants in these so called biodegradable nettin tubes on the roots. Whith over 75 years gardening experience I have lost lots of costly plants because the roots have not got through the fine mesh and plants have died Even after two years on the compost heap the mesh has not degraded, Enough is enough I will no longer boy plants from nurseries which use this curse

I agree, if little plantlet is in a pot there's no need for anything else, it's not going to run away is it
last year I bought bedding plants for my son's garden and they all came surrounded by what can only be described as "teabags". I'm not convinced these are biodegradable so I painstakingly removed each and everyone of them before planting and will continue to do in the future. at least then if a plant dies it's not through strangulation !!!
