Whats eating my Welsh poppies?

Hi, I noticed today a pest or disease maybe has been eating my welsh poppies.
It looks like they do have cuckoo spit on them, but from what ive read so far, I dont think that should be leading to their defoliation.
They did the same last year as they are this year and last year they didnt have the cuckoo spit.
I think slugs and snails are not interested in them, theyre in a shady north facing garden, getting sun probably 4 hours a day, theyre self set plants, theyre not watered but they are in the ground and have been for few years, any ideas what may be eating them, thanks for any help

As you can see the leaves are also turning pale and some of them are going crisp and brown

I've noticed similar damage (speckled damage to the leaves) to some of my plants (although not welsh poppies) and am coming to the conclusion that it might be capsid bugs... hopefully someone with more experience can come along and add their thoughts.

  • Thanks WillDB just been reading up about capsid bugs, and the welsh poppies are one of their favourite dishes, from further reading the symptoms of mishapen leaves, brown at the edges, and flower buds that fail to open fit the description, Im going to spray them with bug killer
