earlier in the year I found a large piece of plastic in a Levingtons tomato growbag. It was the size of a dinner plate and folded in two. I do still use their no2 and no3 in soil mixes but it was very wet this year. jacks magic may be my new favourite.
I have today received some lovely marigold plug plants, with the advice to NOT use MPC but to use John Innes no1.....My hubby went to B&M for this as it seemed the most reasonably priced....however, on opening, it is so wet and ust like clay mud!! I have used MPC and have my fingers crossed that they will be ok .....would be such a shame if not as they are so healthy in their plugs
I always have some JI (2 or 3) to mix with MPC to give it some substance and with some perlite too it seems to work well. I can think of no reason why they've said not to use MPC - it makes no sense. My 18 marigolds are growing in the mix I made as above and are very happy - I asked them
