Barren Redcurrant

Why won't my redcurrant produce any fruit?  I've had it 2 years and it has never had even a hint of a flower, let alone a currant.  It is otherwise very healthy and growing well, should I dig it up and start again with a new (different) variety?

are you feeding it with nitrogen rich fertilisers? These promote growth but not floweing and fruiting. Try starving it this year to give it a reason to flower, well maybe give a little potash, but nothing else. Also whilst they dont need full sun, they do not appreciate heavy shade.

I put my redcurrants in the ground in winter 2012.  They've always looked sickly and I was about to dig them out last winter but decided to give them one last chance.  Lucky I did as this year they gave a very good crop.  I put well rotted horse manure on in the spring, which along with lots of rain seemed to help a lot.  Just keep them well protected from birds who will eat them even when they're green.
