pyrocantha

Hi... I thought my cherry tree was doing well, until I noticed thorns...weird. It has been mugged by a self seeded Pyrocantha and I want to get shot of it.... prefer cherries to prickles.... any ideas??? I hacked it back hoping the winter might do for it but no joy.

Try digging it out - it is the only way to get rid of it.

really!!! Oh flump... its got a 5 inch diameter trunk... I did muse upon dynamite, having read your response, but I think that might harm the cherry tree...

Thanks... will probably have to get the sons round...
