  • There's nothing for this year on Carol Klein's IMDB page, though Carol Klein's Plant Odyssey was mentioned in the Telegraph gardening columns..

I couldn't advise on programmes on independent television, can't stick it, only watch whatever is on BBC iPlayer

There are lots of gardening programmes if you have Sky.

Hi Rosemummy, I just checked June's GW mag and I found that Love Your Garden is back for a new series on the 23rd, Plant Odysseys (Carol Klein) and The Secret History of the British Garden will be on BBC2 but the date and time haven't been confirmed yet.

on the last series of love your garden there was a guy in dublin using rooting 'garden globes' instead of taking cuttings.  Ive just tracked the company down and got some to try, has anyone already tried them? Its just an easier way of air layering

Patsy - Please do ask - perhaps Sky could buy all of the old Geoff Hamilton series - it would be great to see those again without needing to buy the DVDs. They could also show lots of old GW programmes - after all what we did in April in 1975, 1985 and 1995 (or whenever) is not that different to what we do in April now. Main differences would be some of the 'new' plant varieties which may, or may not, have become mainstream and, no doubt, some of the attitudes towards chemicals.

Would be quite interesting to see just how many chemicals they recommended then are no longer available to amateur gardener - lots and lots I think.

Sorry to those (lots I know) without Sky but the BBC seem unwilling to do this themselves preferring, instead, to focus on 'entertainment' / talent shows, property  and antiques programmes and leave 2 channels (BBC 3 & 4) completely dead during the day. Wouldn't even need an announcer - just somebody to feed the programmes into the machine.....

Sky used to have a channel called UKTV Style that had all the old gardening programmes on and some new ones too, then it changed to Home and disappeared.

They used to show old GWs on Sky but stopped for lack of viewers - which is what you expect in the afternoon.  We're all out in the garden or at work!
