Hi Nikki I think they're poppies but I'm fairly new myself, someone much ,more knowledgable will be along soon, good luck with your garden
Yes they are poppies, think maybe a kind of opium poppy, don't worry you won't get arrested, they grow everywhere!
I leave them in for a bit of colour also, they will self seed.
i love the pink ones, must get round to getting some
That looks like a peony flowered poppy to me. You can get different colours too. I found a low growing pink headed one growing on the pavement the year before last, took the seed head off when it had dried and broadcast sowed if through my garden and it was lovely.
Does the flower head look like this...

There are double and single opium poppies, the one with glaucous broad leaves. The yellow poppy with hairy leaves is a welsh poppy. There are also foxgloves. Not a bad mix for free. If you like the double peony flowered ones, pick your favourites to save for seed. Just wait until the seed head is brown before you pick it.
They arent Poppies, they are yours Nikki B, no, I am joking they are a variety of Opium Poppy and quite gorgeous, save me some seed please. I have the bright pink ones. First Easter after we moved here, these grey/blue leaves came up, very quickly, friends all had a look, we thought some type of cabbage! Then the Poppy heads, I let them self seed, (and collect some) |Next to a cutting bed, wildflower bit, and shingle surrounding my veg plot. This year, after thinking I only had a couple, they are just coming up everywhere, especially in amongst the vet seeds! But I love them.
Thank you everyone for all your help, I really appreciate it everyone has been so helpful I'm so pleased I joined this forum
I have plenty more I don't know if their flowers or weeds so I will be back with more photos soon thank you again.
I've acquired some in my garden, we came in November. There was a 6" border!!! We widened it , and obviously someone had tried to grow some, also Californium poppies.
