If you want to reseed it, mix some grass seed in with some compost, scatter that in the bare patches and firm gently in. Keep well watered and it will come away.

Do I need to put netting down to prevent birds eating gras seed? Lots of birds where I am (which is nice but I think they eat the last lot of seed I put down)
Yeah, birds, mammals and some inverts will have it. If it's smaller areas of lawn affected you could sow in seed trays under cover and transplant if you can wait for patches to spread of their own accord.
I don't know what your local retailers are like but you can maybe get a wider choice of grass seed from an amenity supplier eg Germinal Amenity, Grass seed Store, Cotswold Seeds or most agricultural seed merchants than at a unit-shifting shed. They're better in my experience to advise on ratios for your situation Festuca, Rye, Bentgrass, meadow grasses and if you want nitrogen-fixing clover.

Personally, I wouldn't go and dig it up and overseed it, which seems like unnecessary work and expenditure
