cordyline

For the first time ever my cordyline has flowered! I'm delighted as a few winters ago when we had severe cold, I thought I had lost it, but in the spring, cut off all the damaged leaves.and stem and low.and behold a tiny shoot came out of the pot the following autumn and now it has a long white bract with tiny star like flowers on it! Does anyone know, how often do cordylines flower? I was told once every seven or ten years?
