Back from holiday with most of my plants alive - hurrah!
We spent a lovely week in France - we were suppose to stay till 10 days, but we were camping near d'avignon where thunderstorms were forecast.
Just in time too as my chard was close to perishing on return. I lost a few newly sprouted dwarf beans and some sunflowers, but otherwise my garden seems intact despite the warm weather. I managed to move most stuff to more shaded areas and soaked lots of cardboard, which seemed to do the trick.
Also bought some echinop seeds from Reim, which i'm excited about sowing. So glad to be home to tend to the garden.

Thats good, its nice to come home and see everything growing on. Echinops grow beautifully and the bees love them Easy from seeds.
They look so beautiful Lyn! It was really interesting to see the types of plants change as we moved south through France. They had Echinops as part of the council owned flower beds in Epernay (just out side Reim), while further south near lyon they had verbena everywhere and then we obviously hit the lavender fields of provence. It as wonderful to see, but it did make me miss my garden tremendously.
Have you got verbena as well, If not I could send you some. Its wild here I need to dig it out.
That's very kind of you Lyn. Sadly running out of space for tall backdrop plants as my yarrow is such a space hogger. I'm considering the dwarf verbena as it might be better for my "wildflower" border. I'm impressed with the dwarf buzz buddleia i got. It managed to survive 4 days in the post office while we were on hols, despite T&M stating end of June dispatch..
Off away next week and am relying on daughter to garden-sit ?!!! Let's hope it rains ...... Sorry, selfish I know
. Sure all will survive and she'll do a great job, (or she wont get a pressie!)
