Thanks everyone- I think the problem is resolved and it's a house martin. I just love watching it's acrobatics !

Is it nesting on your house?  I used to love watching the martins build their mud nests on the farmhouse wall by my bedroom window when I was a child image

Shame but no it isn't. I think it comes for 'dinner' as the garden is really long with no obstructions down the centre part so it has a long length to swoop down and catch dinner !

Thank you, JAYJARDIN for your question on small fast moving birds. Your description of this small very fast moving bird was very accurate. Some were thinking it was a bat, but you and I knew it wasn't a bat. It soars so gracefully and so acrobatically it is very special to watch. It is definitely a house martin. Thank you.
