Lesions/splits to fuschia buds

Sorry two are sideways. You have to enlarge to see in second photo- it's only the fat bottom row.  This plant  is one year old and as I'm in clay and North west facing it has seemed slow to get moving. Here is the whole plant to try and show size difference in buds:

I went through a period of overwatering a fortnight ago and I have fed it around 5 times since spring- liquid fertiliser. I pruned it last year and it seemed to grow back well but stunted. But all my plants at this aspect seem s   l     o    w. It's by a fence so is the last one to get afternoon sun.   My rosebuds seem to be taking 5 days to open and they get sun from 4pm. (Novice that I am I expected them to open overnight).

I think you may have overfed them. you have forced them to grow quicker than they wanted too. I have never, ever fed my fuchsias that are in the ground, only mulched in the autumn. Pick of the damaged buds, i am sure it will be ok, and stop feeding.

I only feed ones in pots, then only once a fortnight, later in the summer.
