My wife has saved a bee today that looked almost dead. I quick supply of sugar water and the bee perked up and walked off. My wife could see it actually drinking it up...
I used the same method on a lethargic bee found on my greenhouse floor yesterday. Unfortunately he fell backwards into the sugary liquid and got extremely sticky! I ended up using a stick to pop him onto a Mimulus flower and whilst he got busy with the pollen I used a hose set to 'mist' to clean him off. Much to my satisfaction and relief after a few minutes of cleaning himself with his legs, he flew off.
It was lovely to interact with the bee but things would have been a lot easier for all concerned had he not fallen backwards in the first place!
If U use a broken off blade of grass and diluted honey& water U can pop drops onto petals and leaves need the bee and they will find it, saves them falling into dishes ( and stops ants gathering on ur dishes to!

How did you do that?
No, the bee was where you see the water on the tiles beside the dish. He will probably come back for ore today!

Quite simple really, just saved your pic and rotated it, QED as they say
I'm thinking of putting little dishes of sugar water around the garden in between the flowers to help any bees that may want an easy snack !

why are the bees nesting in my air brick, rather than in the box we have provided for them?
The same reasoning behind my young cat scratching the stair carpet rather than the scratching post we bought for him!!????
