Plants for dry areas

MMflowerMMflower Posts: 79

Hi, any ideas for a section of the garden which gets a lot of sun and has dry soil? I have planted lavender there and there's also a Thyme and Rosemary which are doing very well but the patch is still bare. Any other plants that would thrive there? Thanks.

    Here's something nice from Pinterest:

Summer border of Buddleia davidii 'Lohinch', Nepeta racemosa 'Walker's low' Anthemis tinctoria 'E.C.Buxton', Salvia superba, Salvia nemerosa 'Ostfriesland', Achillea credo, Echinops ritro 'Veitch's Blue', Geranium 'Nimbus', Geranium 'Rozanne', Sedum 'Matrona'

I like how the plants are repeated throughout the border, and the colour range is harmonious. All these are good plants for dry sunny sites.

hi Willde, excuse my ignorance, what are the blue coloured plants at front of border, and the yellow flowers in middle of border?

Salvia 'Ostfriesland' are the deeper purple/blue, and Nepeta 'Walker's Low' is the paler one. The yellow 'daisies' are the Anthemis 'EC Buxton'.

Cistus do very well in my garden which has a very dry sunny slope as do helianthemum, and Lupins, plus penstemons achillea's and even some roses will do well.
