Bowles Mauve Cutting

This will be my third attempt.  Two failures over the winter/spring period.  Can someone explain slowly how I can grow cuttings from my bowles mauve this time of year.  They are beautiful this year but getting so large I want to start again next Spring.

  • Well so far so good, they all look perky.  What is the first sign that they have taken and when do you know when to repot?  Thanks.

  • Verdun,

Done that bit.  They have been in for about a week.  What is the first sign that they have taken and when do you know when to repot?  Thanks.

I found it better to do them when it was a bit cooler, September.

Leave in the pots, pot up in early Spring.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • OK so sometime in September I should repot (they are sharing some larger pots at the moment) and stick them in the cold frame for next Spring to plant out??
