I have this bush/tree/vine thing growing, it is quite raggedy and spilling all over. So far I don't think I have seen any flowers on it in the 9 months I have been living here but I may have just missed it.
I pruned it in spring but wasnt sure really how to do it so just cut it back randomly, is there any particular way to prune it? It feels a bit top heavy for my liking and it is spilling into next door.
Yes the rose is quite tall too, but it is bald below so I don't know what to do with it. If I cut it down to about a foot below the fence top will it grow flowering stems lower down?

Looks a bit like a clematis of some sort.
Pretty sure it is a honeysuckle of one sort or another, as Tetley says.

Honeysuckles tend to get top heavy......I think they prefer it that way.
