Treating roses next to a fish pond
I have a problem I planted 5 ground covering roses on a slope down to my fish pond about a year ago. I only planted them for the flowers and ground cover, I hadn't thought about treatment for beasties, blackspot and rust. Any ideas how I could treat this without poisoning my fish and pond? Any help would gratefully received.

You could try the organic route. Feed them in the spring, watch out for the first sign of aphid infestation and squash the blighters by hand before they get the upper hand. As to black spot, it is a fact of life; it is best to remove the affected leaves so that they don't overwinter near the bushes causing them to be reinfected in Spring.
If you use sprays and poisons they will get in the pond and your fish won't like that.
I never spray any of my roses or other plants come to that. Just make sure they are fed every spring and that any dead or diseased wood is removed at the same time. Clear up any fallen leaves in autumn and bin them so black spot can't hibernate and throw up spores into the new foliage in spring.
Manufacturers would have you think that sprays are essential. But they are not
