i grew some brussel sprouts this year but they were not good they were not tight shut . but open more like greens! any tips

Perceived wisdom on blown sprouts is not planted firmly enough and rocking in the ground-does that sound possible?
That is the usual cause

I agree with the above..one of the presenters of Gardeners World said many years ago ( probably Geoffrey Smith)...plant them in concrete!!
The thing I do before I plant them is the stamp the ground down hard with my feet. And repeat a few times.
