hi everyone I have just started thinking about going organic in the garden to control weeds and pests etc so if someone could point me in the right direction or have any tips that would be great thanks in advance
Encourage birds into your garden by hanging up feeders and providing a birdbath - they'll come and eat your aphids and caterpillars for you.
Make a couple of holes at the base of your garden fence to enable hedgehogs to travel about the area to eat bugs, slugs, beetles etc and make sure there's always some fresh water out for them.http://www.hedgehogstreet.org/
Have an area of your garden where there's lots of low-growing plants and low sprawling shrubby things for cover for the hedgehogs and ground-creeping birds like dunnocks.
Make a pond or bog garden, no matter how small.
If you have a pet cat, keep it indoors at night to help protect birds and small mammals.
By doing these simple things and not using pesticides you'll create a balance in your garden and most problems will sort themselves out without too much effort from you.
It'll take a little time, but it'll really be worth it

Keep your eyes peeled for aphids and squish any as soon as you see them.
