Old fence panels and shed are getting green showing through fence paint. What is the best way to deal with it?

Wire brush and re-paint. My OH would insist that I wear a face mask while I wire brush it down.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Got face mask, can't remember seeing wire brush since I moved. May have to nip out for one. Will give that method a try.
Having tried both ways I'd say it comes off much more easily when it's wet. Wait till it's rained or wet it first and then use a scrubbing brush and a bucket of water. It will be messy but you won't need the face mask. Almost fun on a hot day!
