not greenfly but lilac fly???

anyone know what these are, i found them on my flat leaf parsley when it had gone all floppy, ive washed them off and replaced the top layer of compost after i had rinsed them off plant
there were millions of them
on a cuter note i saw this little chap on the bird feeder then he sat on top here just watching me

ooh are they, i'll google to compare, i was expecting woolly aphids to look ...well woolly lol
mmm i'm not convinced they are the woolly variety as mine weren't white and woolly as google is showing. I tried typing in purple(they are actually lilac in colour but thought that would confuse google with the tree lilac) aphids but not a lot comes up for uk
I think (going by the host plant) that they're likely to be Carrot Aphid - squirt a jet of water from the hozepipe at them! Colour seems to be an imprecise diagnostic tool!

edd & dove probably the cabbage aphid then comparing the two types. i hosed them off dove.
interesting articles dove and i don't mind a few aphids but these had caused the plant to completely flop with the amount sucking on it, it perked back up as soon as they were gone.
