Planting Apple Tree
in Fruit & veg
We have been given a n apple tree in a container. It is about 6 ft tall and is starting to produce fruit. Friends who gave it to us said plant straight away. All advice i have read says don't transplant trees at this time of year. What should I do?

Transplant may refer to digging up a tree and moving it. Planting from a container is not as disruptive to the root system. I'd tease out the roots at the edge if it's pot bound, plant and water in well. Don't let it dry out though the summer but don't water every day and drown it
