Planting Trees
My landscape gardner has let me down, again. I asked him to plant a number of trees and firs in March but it took him so long that he passed the job on to someone else yesterday and that person tells me the firs are not available and I should wait to October to do the job when the trees and firs will be available. Is what he tells me true or should I try to find another landscaper?

I'm sure you can find a landscaper that will give you the answer you want but it may not be a good landscaper. It's hard for plants to get established in the heat of summer and you won't find a reputable firm selling bare root plants at this time of year. Bare root and small is best to get trees established. Small plants grow away quickly, large ones very often struggle
In the sticks near Peterborough
I'd have to agree with nut on this one. You'd have to buy in potted specimens if you want to plant now and they cost more than bare root, some times it's significantly more. Plus watering can be a nightmare at this time of year especially if we get a prolonged hot spell.
i must agree with your landscaper it would be foolish to plant trees now , if they don't get enough water through the summer they will be damaged or die best wait to the end of september that is when i will be planting my new apple tree
