Plant ID please

ecokidecokid Posts: 138

I'm eyeing up the spot in front of these plants to form a moist/bog planting area for my wildlife pond. I was wondering if anyone could ID these plants?

And this is a large established shrub that's currently in bloom with white frothy flowers and yellowy/orange berries.

Middle one is an Oxalis, possibly Oxalis acetosella which is a native one, spreads a lot.

The secondin Geum urbanum, wood avens a weed with seed that stick to clothes and animal to spread everywhere and then a bit further.

The shrub looks like pyracantha. Does it have vicious spikes?

If it is Pyracantha, the berries are very popular with the feathereds. Orange and yellow ones go later than red ones, we find.

  • We had a cotoneaster, (not quite the same I realise) in our previous house, it got out of hand, started to take over the patch it was in and travel up over the huge front window of the house.    We cut it back under the window nice and neatly and tried to dig it out by the roots, however, we gave up in the end.     We were amused to go back past our house 15 years after selling it, to find that the current owners were also having problems with it.......but had left it to it's own devices instead of keeping it under control.   It was absolutely enormous  image
