ive put in 1 year old asparagus crowns in march and wanted to know if i should feed them now or over the summer?

If so can anyone recommend a general feed?

Mulch them with a few inches of well-rotted farmyard or horse manure in late winter. Repeat that every year and they will have everything they need.  It will also help keep down weeds in spring as you really don't want to use a hoe around asparagus - hand weeding only.  If you want to give them a boost before then, I would use a liquid feed like a commercial seaweed liquid feed or make your own nettle, comfrey or manure 'tea'.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
