Growing Iceberg lettuce

I'm growing Iceberg lettuce in containers in the greenhouse and they are coming on a bomb with lovely hearts forming but the leaves are getting holes in them and I don't know what's causing it. I have checked thoroughly for slugs and there aren't any so what is eating my plants?

I have just used nematodes on my allotment and all the plants have all given a huge sigh of relief. Now ........Pigeons? Mmmmmmm Nets everywhere I suppose?
Beer pots attracts the little ones. I must have caught about 50+ this week plus the birds like the corpses. Yuk.
