Hi Jo, it's Sorbus hupenhensis. Usually left til all that is red has been eaten but this one likes the white. There's plenty of hawthorn and cotoneaster left
I wish I could ave a few more blackbirds for our rampant slug and snail problem. When we bought the house a few months back we put out pellets (my shoes were covered in them whenever I walked through the -small- garden at night so it was sadly a necessity) and we collected over two pints of them the next day!
Since we've used nemotodes which helped a lot more than the pellets but despite all the starlings that love our feeders I only ever see the one blackbird. He was there when we viewed the house - he has a pied head so we know it's him! Hopefully now we've put some beds in we might see a few more.
No signs of hedgehogs. Shame as I love them! I don't know what my greyhound would think though.
We put mealworms on the table but I'll sprinkle some around, and some suet - I know blackbirds only tend to eat from the floor If we get no extras it will feed our adopted pet at least!
I've got what seems to be a pair just now. He sits on the shed roof in the morning waiting for brekkie. What a delight they are
I do the same Hosta - a sprinkle or three among the plants in the biggest border where there are a few perennials, and therefore some gaps at the moment. They also come up to the bench near the back window as I put a suet treat there for them, attached to the bottom of the bench. Mrs B is often there when I look out
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Not sure if the pic qualifies for the camera thread Fairy. OH took it
I think this one was very hungry, it ignored us.
In the sticks near Peterborough
Course it does! It's worthy of a 'winter month' calendar shot

Grabs, when we moved here and started the garden I used to sprinkle " suet treats" around the blackbirds soon started rummaging.
With several hundred hostas, I need all the help I can get.
oops, just realised I've already mentioned that on this thread.
