Hawthorn leaves turning brown

My hawthorn

tree (can't remember the variety) is just about to blossom, however, about one third of the leaves have dried up and gone brown. Anyone know why?

    Could you do a few more pics, I can't see what's going on there.

  • Actually it doesn't have the typical hawthorn leaves does it?! I've never liked the tree but can't cut it downimage

    It could be suffering from fireblight.

    It doesn't look like any hawthorn I know image  Can we have a picture of the blossom and one of the whole tree please?

    I think we need to see pics of the undamaged plant, to ID it and then work out what it might be suffering from.
