Courgette Patio Star

To save some space I decided to try these this year.  Has anyone grown them and how big do they get?  If I decided to actually grow them in pots, what size should I use?

Thanks in advance

Teresa

Don't know how big it will be but as the name suggest it suitable for the patio

I've got 2 in a 35cm wide x 35 cm deep pot. They are now just growing over the width of the pot and the first courgettes are now 10cm long. Make sure you water them regularly and maybe give them some tomato fertilizer once a week when it starts flowering.

  • I've grown All Green Bush quite happily in large tubs, and they're another variety that doesn't spread too much, although the plants can still get very big.

I'd like to see the seed and plant companies provide more information about courgette varieties being 'bush' or 'trailing' varieties, in the same way they do with tomatoes being bush/determinate or cordon/indeterminate.

I'm growing a few types of courgettes and I've no idea with some of the varieties how much they will spread out of control, or be fairly manageable in large tubs.

I use the same size as Swiss Sue, 35cm x 35cm. They're big hungry thirsty plants.

Thanks for the advice everyone, think I'll put two in the garden and one in a pot this time round.  I do agree Chris - the ones I had last year trailed everywhere and were also very prickly image
