Fertilisers beyond "standard" tomato food? & small cuc question..

I should make a Q&A thread haha.

Just wondering my plants are growing in pots, they just have 100% compost in the pots. I know it says don't feed with tom food until flowers appear. but at this stage does standard shop bought tomato feed cover everything or are things like Fish blood & bone additional options. or just natural alternatives to the tomato food?

Also quick cucumber question, I had assumed feed when flowers form is the same for them, though one of my crystal lemon plants has a flower at a pretty early stage, should I be feeding at all or wait until I can visibly see the first development of cucs?

If the potting compost is standard multi-purpose (bought, not home made) then it should have enough fertiliser in it for at least the first six weeks after planting.

If you were making up your own growing medium (like we sometimes see Monty doing) for tomatoes etc I'd be adding a small amount of Fish, Blood & Bone (basing it on the John Innes formulae http://www.gardeningdata.co.uk/soil/john_innes/john_innes.php ).

I don't start using tomato food until my tomates have actually set the first fruit, and I do the same with squashes, cucumbers, courgettes etc.

Yeah it's standard shop stuff, few different things one was john innes fruit & veg, one some mid range one cost wise from Tesco.

Ah okay I'll just wait then, just wanted to be sure they don't need any additional nutrition, I'll be less stressed when I see some fruit haha.
