Help With Savia Microphylia

msherermsherer Posts: 1

Is there another plant that's poisonous to Salvia microphylla? I weeded the garden the other day, clearing out a spot where ivy and honeysuckle had gotten overgrown. I worked around a hot lips plant that was doing quite well, careful not to disturb it. But today, two days later, the hot lips had shed a bunch of leaves and looked terrible.

What might have caused this?

Maybe the plant had been accustomed to the shelter of other plants, then found itself more exposed. (And during very windy cold weather if you are here in the UK). Give the plant a light tidy up with secateurs, it will bounce back.

  • I think that's probably the case, and perhaps, too, a few roots were disturbed by the removal of the weedy growth. As W says, it'll recover given time and a tidy up. Plenty of warm weather ahead for it to get going again.
