Hehe, I know how that can feel myself. That makes sense as next to the camellia and roses, the previous owner clearly liked gaudy flowering shrubs. I could possible replant where the pittosporum is as then it won't be too far from it's original location and the increased space should help it flourish. I do love the vine-coloured leaves.
image 1 and 3 both look rather like a Pittosporum. The shoots on some Pittosporum have very dark nearly black bark and leaves tend to have a wavy edge. The flower description given also fits quite well with this genus.
