Asparagus weed problems

Hey, ive put in a new raised bed with 1 year old crowns but the manure i used last year is full of bindweed and it is starting to come up.I can dig down to take off the shoots but suspect it wont get rid of the bindweed itself.

Any idea how i can get rid of it? think its dangerous to use weedkiller as it may spray on the asparagus itself and digging it out may disturb the asparagus roots.

Also what can i use to feed the asparagus ?(ie soluble plant food)

Any suggestions gratefully received

    If you can encourage the bindweed to grow up canes, you can then dab the leaves with Roundup gel once they are well out of reach of the asparagus.
